Hello, my name is Alex McLaren and I am a designer. I was born in Australia but moved to the states at a young age. I’ve always been a quite an observant child, noticing things that most people overlook. I’ve always had an eye for things that work and don’t work visually, usually making a comment when necessary. I am a tough critic and always thinking of ways to make things easier and more accessible for the average person. I have always been a pensive person throughout my life, often thinking for I speak or ask a question. This is a result of growing up without siblings and spending a lot of time by myself. However, I find that I still can excel in group projects, often times emerging as a leader people look to. I’ve always gravitated towards leadership positions because I believe people look at me as a lead by example type of person. Often times I find myself able to adapt and learn extremely quickly compared to others. I have a natural curiosity of how things work so that in turn helps me ask the right questions.

I am currently finishing up the UI design course at The Iron Yard which is a 12 week intensive course that accelerates concepts that could take years to comprehend. I have always had a very creative side and coming from a background of film, I figured this course would be the perfect opportunity to showcase my creative talents.
